Slideshow with Vegas Pro 21

Not so much about new features of Vegas Pro 21. Simply, because I am also interested in actual projects, and how Vegas Pro 21 behaves here in terms of stability.

So one acid test with Vegas Pro 21 was to prepare a slideshow. The major first step was a lot of pan/crop and rotation, since I had a lot of scans in the png format - and since the scanner was not able to recognize all pictures from up to 50 years older paper printouts.

The second major source were jpegs. All Material required an adjustment of luminance and colors, using the color grading portal. That worked like a charm, and my calibrated ASUS monitor was used for color adjustment. It worked great. All the work was done in an UHD 25p timeline.

The work was done on my OLED ASUS laptop (see signiture for specs ).

Most impressive for me: I saw near to no crashes (I think one). Stability is improved really, and I think this is important for our work.

Cool!

Any new, modern transitions in v21 for slideshow, like Proshow gold has since many-many years for example?
I cannot imagine who like 50-60% of Vegas built in transitions? Many motions are so oldschool, definetly need a refresh. Yes, GL transitions is a good direction.
Also, it would be nice to select 10-20 as favourites, assign to a hotkey, so it's easy to replace default crossfade. Or select 100 picture on the timeline and add random ones with two clicks only from the favourites. This could save so much time for me.

This is a function that is added by Excalibur to my workflow - sorry, but the slideshow function of Vegas was not updated. But I have tested Excalibur in Vegas Pro 21, and that works fine also in Vegas Pro 21.

The native VEGAS slideshow feature (which was originally developed and only available in Movie Studio) is badly in need of an update. The UI framework is old and it could use some significant feature additions. We have a lot of other very large things we need to improve in VEGAS as well, but this is on our list.

Tend to agree with Derek, since the transition we have in the internal slideshow functions are a limited selection only. However, this can be overcome at the moment with Excalibur.

BUT my point was the stability, that I have seen in the project. That is most important to me.

There are some new GL transitions also... And with adjustment events, the ability to create new custom transitions has been enabled.

My last client that ordered a slide show wanted mp4 chapter markers with titles for each slide, over 100 of them, for seek and play in VLC and other popular players. My solution in Vegas was an excel database and Drax (very old freeware).

Vegas could benefit from up to 1000 numbered markers, which could be promoted at render to Apple-style mp4/m4v markers in one of the two acceptable formats. Should be an easy port from the Edit Details data, or perhaps a script? @jetdv
