slightly OT - Sony Acid loops for Vegas

Is anyone else using the Sony Acid Planet loops with Vegas? I bought a disc, and while they work OK, they seem a remarkably poor value: you get a few loops, with the rest of the disc occupied with demos of the rest of the discs, all for only $51 plus shipping. Am I missing something here, or is this the best way to create loop-based soundtracks in Vegas?

It depend on what youe define as 'a few loops'.

I just checked one of the discs, and there are hundreds of loops on there.

I"ve been using Acid loops for years now. I guess it all depends on what you mean by a few.

I have hundrends and thousands of loops and can pretty much create any type of music I need. I think it is a great deal and it just keeps on getting better and better.

Admittedly, some discs have as few as 150 loops while the average is around 500 - some have as many as a 1000. Sometimes they have 2CD sets which is a great deal and you can also buy packs which offer a price break.

Also, the more you buy, the greater the savings i.e., if you buy 2 -3 the price drops to $44.96 each - 4 the price drops to $41.97 each - and 5 or more makes them $39.99.

You can go to AcidPlanet and download the weekly FREE 8 Pack. After registering your copy of Acid, you're also eligible for monthly FREE content via the Get Media download. I've been downloading both for over a year now and that has added up to some SERIOUS content.

Take another look - you'd be surprised at what you can get :)

Amen....After owning more than a terrabyte of loops from ACID libes, plus stuff from Power FX, DJ Puzzle (who authors a lot of loops for Sony too) and many other sites, I guess you could say I'm a loop freak.

BTW, NOTHING better for creating DVD backgrounds....

Is this a "starter" loop CD you bought? What's the name? Sony has a few loop CDs that are meant to get you started with Acid that only contain a couple hundred loops with some demos. However, if you get a full-fledged loop library, you get much more and no demos.
Some that are really good to use with video would be loop CDs that have music beds included.
Here's the link for the Cinematic and Sound Beds selections available from this site:

Once you get used to working with Acid, you'll see it's definitely a great tool, and worth the price.

When you say you gat demos of other cds, are you browsing the disk from the browser which pops up automatically when you load the cd into the cd player? Just check the disk by opening it from the explorer and see the folders: the cd which came with my copy of acid seemed to have few until I checked its insides...
