Slip keyboard shortcut?

Hello everyone,

Can anyone here help me out find the keyboard short cut to Slip the content of a clip on a per frame basis?
Right now I press the Alt key and slip it with the mouse. I would need to be more precise than that (say slip it 2 frames). I tried looking up the keyboard shortcuts in the Preferences Menu, but couldn't fing anything relating to this...

Help.

Select Event

Numeric Keypad : 7 Start of Event OR 9 for End of event

. .then . .

Numeric Keypad : 3 Start of Event frame slip 5 End of Event frame slip

Any reasons why?

Thanks in advance,

Sorry? If you want to SLIP just the event then just use numeric pad 1 and 3. This will move the whole EVENT by one frame at a time.

What I got you was "slip" back/forward the front or back end. What is it you want? I have really misunderstood your request.

Thanks again Grazie for your quick reply.

The thing I want to do is actually Slip the content of the clip, without touching my beginning and end points.
Interactively you can do that by pressing the Alt key, and Left click inside the clip and move the mouse from left to right. The method is really cool but not precise. I often have to slip the clip by a precise number of frame. Hence my asking if there was a shortcut to do so....

Is this clearer?

Thanks again,

You can always zoom in, turn on Quantize to Frame, and then use the Alt key. It is quite easy to go back/forth by one frame at a time. That's what I do. You have to be pretty zoomed in anyway in order to see what you're doing.

Yeah, thats what I do also... I was just wondering if there was a quicker way. And with all the shortcuts options, I was wondering if I had somehow missed it.

Thanks,

You mean you want to select a clip, type x# of frames and hit return and have the clip move? well you can't.
I have asked this same question and the only answer is some sort of workaround. I use FCP everyday at my real job & that is one of the few functions of FCP I like. You just type a number hit return and the clip moves, type - and the clip moves back.
