Absolutely!

You can set your clips to play faster or slower as well as control many special effects (like chromakey) and movements (like pan & crop) not available on similarly priced editing programs.

For less than $100, you get a lot of bang for the buck.

I just finished a Halloween party video with both fast and slow motion. It was almost too easy! Just <Ctrl> + Edge Drag.

Can you explain what "Pan and Crop" would do ??

How is the quality on the slo-mo ? On Pinnacle the slo-mo get's rather blocky and distorted.

I only did about 15 seconds of slow motion, but it looked fine both as AVI and MPEG1. However, the action in the clip wasn't that fast to begin with. It was just someone passing in front of my camera and mugging. I decided if they wanted to mug, I'd give them a little more time on the screen!

You'll be happy with the results from MS3.

It also does brightness, contrast and color correction much better than Studio, should that need arise.

Bought the package last night after all your accolades. Looking forward to some pleasant experiences. Pray for me as I'm a former Pinnacle user with some dreaded results.

Pan and Crop allows you to add camera movement to your video or still images. So you could zoom in (crop) to show only part of the screen or zoom out for a picture-in-picture effect. Pan allows you to add horizontal/vertical movement so you can take a static video made from a tripod and zoom a little closer at times and pan across the shot. Of course this works really nice for adding motion to still images (ala. Ken Burns in the PBS specials Civil War, Jazz, etc.).

You won't be disappointed.
I struggled with S8 for 8 months before finally giving up. I'm a true convert to MS3.0...it is full-featured and (get this) STABLE!!!

I still use S8 to generate smart sound files and sometimes use the avi I generate in MS in S8 to quickly build up a DVD. (Though, most of the time S8 hangs during the render of even the most basic menu structures.)
