Slow down playback rate to match event duration?

I would love to have a way to easily slow down the playback rate of an event to exactly match the length of the event. As far as I can see at the moment this can only be done as an iterative process using either a velocity envelope or "Playback rate" from the event properties dialogue. A "match event length" toggle next to playback rate would be cool.

What do people think? Should I make a feature request? Or have I missed something?

I guess I don't understand. You have an event that fills say....5 seconds. You want it to playback slower. If you use a velocity envelope, it will play slower, but will stay within the confines of 5 seconds, or the same as the original length of the event.
If you use playback speed via Properties, same occurence. You still have a 5 second long event.
If you CTRL+Drag, you no longer have a 5 second event, you have dragged the event to fill a longer space, but it still can be trimmed to 5 seconds.
What am I missing?
Now....
If the original event is ONLY 5 seconds, and you are using all 5 seconds, you still have all the original options available to you. But if you want to speed it up, it has to loop.
Remember that you can also slip edit an event by holding ALT while moving the cursor within the event itself. This allows you to determine a new in/out point of your event, even after you've sped up or slowed down.

Thanks Spot. I've got a voiceover that lasts 7 seconds and I wanted to stretch a 5-second video event to fill it, slowing the action down as little as possible. I forgot about CTRL+Drag, which achieves what I'm looking for.

In another case I want to slow a video event down to around 15% to run under my closing credits, but I've run into the problem of 0.25 minimum playback rate. I wonder why that it limited. Looks like I'll have to use a velocity envelope for that one instead of CTRL+Drag.

A further question... would a playback rate of say 0.25 set in properties give exactly the same result in terms of quality/smoothness as an event or track velocity envelope dragged down to say 0.25? Are they working in the same way? Would stacking the two muck things up? The result in my test looks the same at first glance.
