Slow-Jerky Mouse & Workflow Response in Vegas = ?

I have VP10e 64-bit on Win7 Home and yes, my projects do have some substantial amount of native FX and quite a bit of tracks. However, neither of these factors have changed much from when I was working in VP8 on my old workhorse 32-bit XP and it just all seems more glacial now. This slow response happens even when no other applications are running.

My Vegas Temp file is on the same drive as the .veg and most of the content - D:\VEGAS Temp

Note that I do have Windows Search Indexer on which while a system drag is better than having to wait forever for directories to show content when opening them in Explorer. I don't use Windows Explorer for searches though -- I use AgentRansack - much faster, more advanced and free.

Since I only have one stand-alone computer from which I do all things computer, the option to radically disable Services and other stuff beyond what I've already done for basic system streamlining isn't an option.

And as with many of you VP11-ers, I have the random crash too compared to my 32-bit days, but so far it's not too obnoxiously often. The useless show-information link after such tells me to upgrade to the version of Vegas I already have installed...

Any thoughts on this glaciality?
Thanks.

~ Philip

are these symptoms solely in vegas?

have you run malwareantibytes (you say your pc does everything). along with refgular virus scan?

what other progs do yu have open when using vegas?

have you checked what process / services are running in the bkgrd?

Processes would be my first check because on my system I have found that both V10 and V11 will sometimes leave a process running after exit. I have seen three instances running at once and my first symptom was jerky mouse movements and slow dialog box opening.
Sound card drivers and settings have given me problems in the past with sluggish Vegas performance too. I haven't used M-Audio cards in years so I'm not familiar with yours, but I would check its settings also. If internally clocked, are they matching your project settings (44kHz vs. 48)? If an ASIO driver is provided and you're using it, try the WDM instead and last resort, set the card up as default windows device and use the Microsoft Sound Mapper (audio preferences in Vegas) and see if that clears up any problems.

Thanks for responses, pardon my delayed one. I'll look at what you've suggested.

As to if this only happens in Vegas, well, not quite, sometimes in Steinberg Cubase 6 but it's far more common in Vegas. That said, .veg files with minimal content run faster, so it is in part due to load of FX, pans, etc. But it's a bit frustrating when this occurs considering I have a true 6-core system and 16 Gb. available RAM.
