midi sequencing will kill it, no other NLE program would have that, using a synth inside vegas, play the piano, create music and fx ... the only software in which you can adapt midi, audio and video depending on your needs... and they have all the code already created .. too good to be true... they will continue to segregate the market in small apps with small diferences between them until the users abandon them.

This is from the recent survey.

I want logical grading and better timeline performance and better text and titling.

fifonik wrote on 10/16/2018, 4:09 PM

I ticked improved text and titling, better timeline performance & mkv support. Dreaming...

Wanted also to tick slomo & high dpi & UI enhancements, however only 3 could be ticked.

Stability---no more crashes!

Full 3D 360 support---high resolution, 360 stabilization, and the ability to render top/bottom full 3D videos at 4K & higher.

180VR editing, with metadata, too.

General purpose stitching would be nice...but now I'm just dreaming...

Thumbs up for the MIDI sequencing. Then we could compose music right inside of vegas pro. No need to roundtrip to other programs.

Kinvermark wrote on 3/8/2019, 2:47 PM

For me, it's 90% about workflow & efficiency improvements. Of course these have to be stable enough to be usable.

@lan-mLMC

From your list:

Improved batch conversion features

Integrated media management

Logical color grading workflow (MUST BE FAST TO DO - that means UI change away from many sliders)

Nested timelines (as in Multiple timelines per project. Tabbed and stackable for "pancake" editing.)

My add:

Improved project exchange with other programs (e.g. Resolve) - this means XML and reliable timecode reading across media formats, and also fixing the "bug" (I think it has been defined by Nick Hope as such) whereby "takes" don't line up according to timecode.

Cineform decoder/encoder should be made native for speed and reliability.

Continued development and debugging of the "STORYBOARDS" function along with hover scrub / in-out set points.

Consolidate plugins. Like have something called color like davinci resolve has and for other such effects even if it's just an interface that will put those individual effects on. Or if not let us create our own folders to group effects together to make them easier to get to.

I would really like something like camtasias annotations

Some built in animations that incorporate motion blur or faux motion blur that can be used for text images or transitions.

I love the editing but when it comes to visual pizazz vegas really falls short. I barely use any effects outside of color curves, vignette, chroma keyer, LUT filter.

VEGAS Pro need to remake the Video Stabilization. Lets be honest and real, its not good at all. When it comes to removing Micro jitter from a Gimbal or stabilised the clip, I will be using Premiere Pro and used the warp stabilization, export the clip and continue my workflow in VEGAS Pro.

Nesting is a must have in my opinion, Its very hard for me to go through whole timeline to look for a specific video clip in the timeline layer.

Motion Graphics tools/Features would be a big bonus. So I dont need to use Adobe After Effects. Maybe can make it simple?

VEGAS Pro 16 need an actual motion tracking. 2D and 3D would be great. The current motion tracking doesn't work all of the time. I have to use BCC Plugins in order to motion track my video clip precisely. maybe VEGAS Pro can integrated with the system as default features in upcoming VEGAS Pro?

Actually, better tabilization and motion track function has been provided by plug-ins such as Mocha and prodad. I think the improvement of vegas itself is badly in need, including improved keyframe system、PTT tiler、more direct preview-window-action and so on.

And NBFX Titler Pro and BCC Title Studio plug-ins also provide much better titling solutions.

I agree that Mocha Pro and Mercalli (Prodad) do a great job at stabilisation (I just got Mocha Pro to stabilise a shot that Mercalli 4 SAL completely failed at with any setting), whereas Mercalli often is a miracle worker.

Yes, no matter what plug-ins the develoer will add to vegas, there will be stronger third-plugin. So I think the improvement of vegas itself is more important such as Bezier keyframe curve、keyframe which can be copy frome anoher FX 、Soundkey keyframe which can be extracted frome music 、Protype Tiler which can be synchronized to vegas timeline and so on.

I did bring this up to the team in the past and they told me they were aware of the problem with Vegas' color tools being spread out across multiple plugins and they were looking into ways to address that. Whether we'll see that in updates anytime soon remains to be seen, they have a huge log of things they want to fix and add.
