I know we can smart (no recompress) render Cineform files, as long as we get an older aviplug.dll, in Vegas.
Can anyone tell me what other codecs (if any) will smart render?
one simple example is to use x264/nero aac encoder/mp4box. you will get the same results as handbrake.
i know people love handbrake around here, but you can get pretty much the same or better using separate tools (and also in a fully automatized manner)
i mentioned in older threads, i did a 1-click "AVI to MP4" for youtube, using x264. as it use avisynth, it can open basically anything, including any canopus codecs.
there's no need to think bad of canopus codecs because it cannot be opened directly in handbrake.
One interesting thing, because i thinked Vegas12 cannot smart render HQX codec:
It cannot if you have some track fx, but none of those are checked!
If i place a video to a new, clean track itdoes smart render :)
This is the best codec for archiving, editing video few years later, etc. I use Q6 M30 settings, which gives around 270mbps data rate for my 2560x1440@60p videos. And i can't see any difference compared to the source on lower track. Even on high motion scenes. Niice. And still free :)
Only vegas cannot play back at 60fps, but my i7 cpu run at only 17%. Even Mpc-HC cannot play it back at full fps, only at half. Is this some decoder limitation?
Edit: upgrading to MPC-BE player it works fine! Now if only Vegas could also playback on timeline at 60fps
