Smart-rendering PsF for BD

Just viewed the "Upgrade Webinar", and one of the screens at the beginning of the seminar announces:

"No-recompress rendering XDCAM-EX to MPEG-2"

It got me interested, so I checked - and yes, the 35/420 mxf files from EX-series camera can be smart rendered not just to mxf (as present for some time), but also to mpg (or just m2v). Nice, BUT:

- why cannot be smart-rendering intelligent enough and also kick-in on progressive (or really, PsF) stuff rendered out to interlaced, which is obligatory for BD?

I mean, for example: I have all my XDCAM-EX stuff in 1080/25p (PsF) format, and - after just cut editing - I'd like to make a reference BD out of it. Sounds easy, huh?

NO - smart rendering of progressive mxf will not work with "Upper field first" setting, required by BD!

SCS, please drop it into our wish-list basket.

I wonder - has anyone managed to fool Vegas and make it smart render from 25PsF to 50i ?

What makes you think that interlaced is obligatory for BD? Check on that, I'm pretty sure it's not. Now, perhaps DVD Architect doesn't accept it without recompressing, but that doesn't mean it's out of spec. DVDA is extremely picky and doesn't accept files that Encore accepts just fine.

Yes, I know a couple of BD authoring packages that would accept 25p - but it is NOT in the BR specs, and I cannot afford to make BDs that play on my PC, but might fail on some stand-alone player...
