SMOOTH transition progress

If i add a push right transition betweeen two events,
the effect start and end is not smooth.
However i can set it to smooth with right click, envelope and check transition progress.

But why is this not the default? How can i set it to default?

thanks, but it was on smooth already.
this smooth the transition when i enable this video envelope.
but why should i enable this with an extra step, why i cannot see smooth transition at default, when is select that transition between two events?
