Hello,
I have been using SMS for nearly 2 years. I recently recorded a gameplay video and while I was editing it I noticed that when it moved fast the 3d rendered part of the game got all colorful and pixelated like a bad acid trip.
Here is a screencap: http://postimg.org/image/uijc8hqbp/
Anyway, I took the original AVI file and viewed it and the original file does not have that problem. It only shows up in the SMS preview window AND carries over to the render itself. Parts of the screen that are not 3d look fine, and when the image is immobile it looks fine.
The only thing I changed recently was I updated my capturing software, Dxtory. This forced me to re-enter my codec settings. However, again, the actual recorded file when played using a video player looks fine and does not have the distortions it has in Movie Studio. However, my settings could have been changed from original, and I will put them here in case anyone is familiar with Dxtory. I use the x264vfw codec which typically doesn't even open in SMS but by tweaking a couple settings I got it to work (flawlessly). Now, with my new possibly different settings, the file loads fine but is distorted as noted above.
There are two things that could have changed and could be the culprit.
For output mode, you have a choice of several VFW FourCC settings: H264, h264, X264, x264. Now, I didn't recall which one I initially used, so I guessed x264. I thought I was right as the file loaded. It doesn't help that I don't even know what these things mean. The next change is that I entered a setting I got from the net from people having the same loading problem I initially had: "--keyint 15". Now, I don't know if this is exactly what I had before (the number could have been different, 10, 1, etc.). I don't know if either of these could lead to the problem I'm experiencing, but that is all I may have changed.
Please help! I have 5 or more videos like this, and if the file itself looks fine I know I can get Sony to read it correctly. Thank you!
