Thank you for replying. I guess my issue is I don't see any difference in the way things happen whether I have the "enable snapping" tool on or not. What is this used for? Thanks for any and all help!
"Snapping" means the object you are moving around has an attraction to certain locations. For instance, if you are moving the window in Track Motion without snapping, you can place it pretty much anywhere. With snapping on, the object will jump to points on an x-y grid. You get to set the degree of fineness of that grid.
You would want to use snapping if you wanted to make sure that, say, two objects lined up exactly right.
Another example of snapping is the magnetic attraction that adjacent clips have for each other on the timeline. As you grab one clip and bring it close to another clip, at some point it jumps into contact. In this way you know that the joining is frame-accurate.
I personally think the attraction is much too strong in the standard-issue Vegas. There is a way to turn the attraction down in the special menu.
