So I downloaded the Trial Version of 10

While waiting for Sony to resolve an issue where they sent me 'Movie Studio 9' instead of MS 10HD which I've upgraded, now I am not liking this choppy-lag during video previews. The sound is also cut up a bit. I didn't have this problem while working with MS9. What's up with that? Is there a way to correct this or is it going to be an ongoing issue? Any one experiencing the same problem? I haven't been able to search on this matter.

Forgot to mention that my system is a:
Toshiba Satellite,
Windows 7 64bit
Intel Core Duo 2 T8100 @ 2.1GHZ
Mobile Intel Media Graphics Accelerator X3100
4 GB RAM
60GB available (320GB)

I was really disappointed with the laggy preview too. I found that changing the preview mode from "Draft" (which is what I used with 9) to any other choice actually made it less laggy.

In addition to what Folk said, read replies 2, 3 and 4 in this thread:

I also found that choosing Full or Half rather than Auto for the preview size helps as well.

Unfortunately, preview response in 10 has taken a step backwards, here's to hoping that SCS will make it better in the "a" patch.

In the mean time, if you replay a section of video a few times the frame rate won't be choppy. This is because those frames get loaded into memory.

The preview is very choppy and lags horribly in Sony Movie Studio HD Platinum. I would have thought by now that Sony would have realsed a patch to correct this problem.

This software is so problematic that it is actually choppy on my Quad Core Intel i7 processor with 9 GB of RAM. Honestly, they should be ashamed to release software that does not work correctly.

I am still using prior versions and I actually uninstalled this version. It's not worth the headache.

This is only with HD footage I presume I am not having the problem with my SD footage.

I haven't had that problem, at least until I do lots of editing and add several filters. Right now I am viewing an earlier iteration of a recent wedding video with an HDV timeline with lots of editing, filtering, markers and so on and it is not lagging at all in Best-Full including an external HDTV connected to the secondary HDMI port.. I am running a Q9400 Core 2 Quad at 3.2 GHz and a Radion HD4670 which I built last December since I couldn't afford the latest i7 stuff. Works for me! Perhaps the 2 Samsung HD502HJ HDDs helps, too.
