The new Mac Pro motherboard supports 32GB RAM, and I have it from an authority in this forum ;O) that Apple's mobos are just rebranded regular Asus mobos, so we should soon see a lot of PCs with this too.

Yes and this illustrates Bob's point. It's a high end board supporting dual Xeons and ECC memory on riser cards.

You can buy a board with similar capabilities today from Tyan, and I'm sure quite a few other sources.

I'll bet it's a fun job plugging that much memory in.

Those are insane specs, lol. I guess for something that'd run you almost $3000, it better be good, though.

Apparently going with 32GB adds $9100 to the price, lol. I think I'll pass on that much memory for at least another few years, 4GB is enough for me at the moment.

I have 8GB DDR2 800 and it flies - perfect for my DAW, and perfect for when Vegas goes 64bit.

You want a seriously fast Vegas experience, this moster can be had with Vegas. Forget the Tynan mobos, Supermicro are the ones to watch.

Bob.

Sure, I was just using tyan as a quick example.

I noticed SuperMicro listed a board that supported 128GB of RAM... All ECC, of course.

What issues are you having? Other than some strangeness with the new Pro Titler (seems to be fixed with 8a) everything is working fine over here.
I am stressing it out too, working with SD and HD, multiple formats, etc.
You didn't mention anything specific so it is tough to offer any help. Could these be user errors? No offense, but I ran into quite a few issues when I started to have a more complex workflow in Vegas. I, too, have used it since the Sonic Foundry days, but only back to version 2. My 8a experience has been flawless so far. Running pretty new machine though - maybe that could be your issue?
Still, when upgrading to new machines or running other applications on your Vegas machine, things can happen...
Just curious what your issues were so I can be prepared.
