I followed SoFo's advice about the best way to render projects from Vegas so that they would work directly in DVD-A without recompression. I rendered the video stream using the Main Concept MPEG2 type, with the DVD NTSC Video Stream template. Then I rendered the audio as Dolby Digital AC-3.
Then I went into DVD-A, and discovered that DVD-A doesn't recognize the resulting ".m2v" video stream. I tried renaming it as .mp2 and as .mpg. In both cases, the file now shows up in DVD-A's media explorer, but DVD-A won't let me bring the file into the project.
What the heck's going on here...?
