Solo / Mute question on tracks routed to busses

when multiple tracks are sent to a buss how can I solo one of the tracks - I am not able to solo or mute individual tracks now - it doesn't seem to matter whether I have Master or Buss selected at the track header - in fact what does that function do - I have not noticed a difference one way or the other ?

Thanks David

If you hit the solo/ mute button on the track in the timeline, it's solo's or mutes that track. If you solo or mute the buss whatever you have routed to that buss is soloed/muted.

If the buss assignment for the track is set as "pre-volume" (pre-fader) the solo / mute functions do not work.. It would be great if the solo / mute switches had a pre/post toggle

yes i see what you mean. You'd have to solo the buss, then mute the other tracks if you have others to that buss. I wonder why the switches are pre fader anyways?

this is one for the suggstion box:
there are times when I have to send multiple tracks to the same compressor and therefore do not want the main track in the mix - just the buss return of the tracks to the master.
This may not seem like a good way to use compression to some (as oppossed to putting a compressor on each track), but I find I need to do it to keep from overloading my playback audio to the point it breaks up when doing many tracks that need various effects. therefore being able to solo the prefader effects send would be - well , I don't need to say it...
