Solved "thrashing" problem

I just upgraded from 512 MB to 1 GB RAM. I had been having terrible problems during the DVDA prepare operation with my computer becoming totally non-responsive and the disk light being on almost all the time. I have done several prepares today, and the computer is totally responsive.

Conclusion: Even though the Sony website lists 128 MBytes as the minimum required memory, it appears that even 512 MB is insufficient (at least with my computer) to satisfactorily run DVDA 2.0b. I should add that my computer is totally stripped (nothing in the startup folders, no anti-virus, and various non-essential processes either disabled or set to manual start).
