Difficult to say something not knowing what those 4K sources exact are in terms of codec, frame rate, bit rate, etc. Therefore you have to give here the Info of those problemfiles following point 1 of this link: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

How can I do it, if I can not load and open this file in Vegas? That's why I loaded it here.

Michal_Zablocki wrote on 7/2/2023, 6:40 AM

I found properties of that clip. here You have them.

Dexcon wrote on 7/2/2023, 6:41 AM

You don't need to open the Vegas Pro project in order to get a MediaInfo report. It works as a standalone app and can also usually be accessed by R clicking a sample video file in Windows File Explorer and clicking on the MediaInfo selection.

I found properties of that clip. here You have them

A MediaInfo report is way more detailed than the very basic info given by what you've provided. Please follow the instructions in the link that j-v has provided, install the MediaInfo app and upload to this thread a detailed (text or tree) report of a sample of your media.

@Michal_Zablocki, that answer is no. MediaInfo is a separate program you need to download and install. It will tell you the full details of the video file rather than the limited information shown on the screenshot you added. Please follow the link provided by j-v for full details.

Do You guys have any idea why this clip doesn't open in Vegas?

Former user wrote on 7/7/2023, 6:00 AM

@Michal_Zablocki Hi, you could share that file & we can try it for you.?

  1. Open Google, top right is a little square of 9 dots - Open Google Drive
  2. Drag that video on & let it upload,
  3. When it's loaded right click on it - Share,
  4. A window will open, choose 'Anyone with the link' - Copy link.
  5. At the top of a new comment is a chain button, paste the link in there to share that video in a comment..

I tried to add your file to a Vegas Pro 14 timeline with this result

After that I tried it in Vegas Pro 15, it loads but not with its own dimensions ( 5120x2880 , so not 4K)

The same in VPro 16

In Vegas Pro 17 and higher it loads well and plays well

Thank you! Does it mean that Vegas 14 doesn't work in 4K at all? But it should!

j-v wrote on 7/10/2023, 8:23 AM

It does, but as I wrote your file is not 4K = UHD = 2x HD = 3840 x 2160 pixels.
This is 4K in Vegas Pro 14

Thank You. Does Vegas have an authorized chat to solve such problems? Just for future. I can't find it.

Almost certainly, the advice that you would get is to update to Vegas Pro 20 which supports up to 8K. Seriously, VP14 is now an old and superceded version and it would be with the most and unrealistic optimism to expect VP14 to ever get an update to cater for beyond 4K media.

You could downscale it to a resolution VP 14 is capable of opening. I find the free https://www.shutterencoder.com/ useful for conversions. (Try output codec h264 to start with)

Michal_Zablocki wrote on 7/10/2023, 8:58 AM

Well, I don't expect to have anything beyond 4K. Kaiber in theory doesn't even offer such quality. But suddenly I received a clip like this and I just want to cut it in the program I already have. And this is it.

RogerS wrote on 7/10/2023, 9:19 AM

I gave you a way to cut it using the software you already have for free. You just need a conversion step. 14 can't even open various phone formats that you may have to edit at some point.

Otherwise join us with more modern software- 5K+ files were less common when Vegas Pro 14 was new. I've even opened 8K videos in recent versions of Vegas.

Vegas Pro 14 has not been updated since 2017. Format support is what it is. The maximum import dimensions are 4096x4096, I'm pretty sure.
