I'll have a go at answering

1. Will a V4 veg file with 5.1 work in V5?

Yes

2. What happens to the Mpeg2 Main Concept codecs in Forge 7
and Acid Pro after installing V5?

Acid version stays the same, SF7 are updated as they are in the same sahred folder (i think)

3. Can I install V5 over V4? and should I?

No, install it as well as and remove V4 when you are happy with V5

4. Do I install the V5 disc first then the V5.0a upgrade or can I just
install the V5.0A by itself over V4?

Just install 5.0a

5. Do all of the V4 scripts have to be updated?

Yes the class name has changed from SonicFoundry.Vegas to Sony.Veags

6. How about Plug-in-pac and Wax and Virtual Dub?

Plug-in pac Frameserver needs an update to work with V5, the VFX plugins work fine - You will still want 3D Le as this can work at an event level, the new vegas 3D is at a track level, Wax is OK and the virtual dub adaptor

7. Does Acid Pro 4.0e and Forge 7 need to be updated?

No

Have fun

Thanks Paul. The "I think" one is kind of shaky though.

90% sure it gets updated, Sf7 and V5 are both in the same directory with a common shared folder with a single set of mpeg encoder files.

That said I wouldn;t worry about it do you use mpeg encoding much in ACID and SF7?

:-)

No, just worried about conflicts or maybe the old codec not being properly
removed.
