Some presets are ineffective after moving to V21 (Brightness and Cont)

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 11/29/2023, 8:03 PM

I have a lot of saved presets on my VFX for commonly-used settings.

Just tried my "Brightness and Contrast" presets in V21 (brought over from V20)... when I select most of my custom-saved presets (created in V20 or earlier), the sliders do not adjust to have the correct values!  Effectively, most of my custom presets no longer work. Some do, as do the first few (system default presets). It isn't that the FX does not work -- it's that when choosing the custom saved presets, none of the controls move.

Here's a quick video demonstrating (3 minutes.. but you can get the idea earlier on)

Although it seems this is isolated (currently) to Brightness and Contrast... I fear I'll find this with other FX the more I work with it.

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns Hi, nothing shows in your video, no fx sliders or FX window, you're moving something but it can't be seen?

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 11/30/2023, 12:10 PM

@Former user oh .. how... bad.. no sound?! And apparently the pop-up dialogs didn't get recorded by the capture tool so you see me dragging something, changing things, but no idea what it is.. oh.. SO bad. lol will re-record and erase this silly sub-thread

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns 👍😂 btw I tried quite a few of my presets for this post & have been using them since updating to VP21 with no issue, 🤷‍♂️ When I did update from 20 to 21 I had to recreate my window layout as the old one caused some problems, the main problem was with Adjustment events which are new in 21 so there being a problem wasn't surprising. Are you using an old layout template from VP20?

Hey @Former user  Updated the video to show the problem... shorter video, and I also updated the text of my post

No.. the windows layouts didn't come over when I installed 20 (and I haven't brought them over via Vegasaur).. just the default Window layout. Strange that some of my presets work and some don't

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns Don't think i'll be much help but I'm going ask anyway 😁 If you find a preset that doesn't work when you're scrolling through the drop-down list, does it work if that preset is dragged in from the preset thumbnails?

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns @Former user

I have the problem with presets in Brightness and Contrast. The built-in presets work, but the custom presets are just bad. They were okay in Vegas Pro 19.

The presets that don't work when added via the Brightness and Contrast dialog also do not work when dragged in from the preset thumbnails. The ones that do work via one method also work with the other.

Here's a never-short-enough video demonstrating.

@RedRob-CandlelightProdctns Thanks, prob shouldn't but I enjoyed that, 😁 Talking to the screen but for some reason you couldn't hear me 🤷‍♂️🤣 Gid with a hard G, just a nickname I got when young.

You typed brightsome instead of brightersome but regardless of that when you scroll through the thumbnails it didn't show, There's Wide_BrighterSome_MoreContrast but not just Wide_BrighterSome without the contrast bit on the end 🤷‍♂️

It should be where the red line is?

I'm not sure where the preset folder is that contains all these...

Edit - C:\Users\yourname\OneDrive\Documents\OFX Presets, (I'm not signed it to OneDrive so it's just a folder on my PC now)

Plug-In Manager Note ---- when Brightness and Contrast is included in a saved Plug-in Manager chain, their values do get assigned properly when added to an event.

@Former user  "G" like the hard G in GIF, which some people like to use the soft G with still.. jot it! er.. got it!

I must have scrolled fast... and it doesn't sort them so it's easy to miss some stuck in the middle. I definitely do have it there.

Why do I feel like ... ?!
