Something causes Vegas to lag

Hello! I use Vegas 13.

I have an old project with nonHD footage and 2.1 audio.

I replaced footage with 1080p 5.1audio. Both of them are H264 encoded. Just two audio tracks managed to come up.

For some reason project started to lag severely. Slow reaction to play head replacement, some lags even on Preview-quarter.

The same 1080p footage added to new project runs perfectly on Best settings even with curves FX applied.

It's not codec related(I guess) non hardware issue as I never faced such lags earlier. It is something with the project. I edited project settings back and forward - did not help, hardware acceleration on\off did not help either. Clean unused media did not help too. Video lags even if there is nothing above and below, no fx or opacity used.

What can it be?

Try Check working color space: File>Properties>Pixel Format : 8-bit or 32-bit ?

it's 8 bit, switching to 32 does nothing.

It feels like it constantly tries to create thumbnails which takes 90% of CPU. Also may be incorrect replacement of audio track (4 to 2 channel) somehow involved, not sure about thaat..

I think I fixed it. I disabled waveform preview, and it works normally(I guess) now. I am not sure if that real life or not yet.

What version of Windows? Is it set to automatically update? Did it do an update recently before the problem started.

Win7 x64. It is not because of update or something. It's media replacement bug. Vegas messed up channels\tracks a bit and had a hard time figuring them out creating thumbnails. It lagged even on empty parts of timeline doing constant thumbnail creation.
