Wonder what the cost is compared to all the jobs that it's doing, mind you it's probably not going to do quite as well as some, but still - that's a VERY innovative and decent little rig there.
It looked like it could have been shot in California, or on the French Riviera, or any of a number of places.
Since the video came from South Effrica, maybe that should be first on the guess list.
I think the RC chopper is easier to fly than a full-size one, because of electronic stabilization that in full size only exists for marine helicopters that cost a large fortune.
Still, I wouldn't try to fly this thing on my own. Two stage turbine, eh?
Grazie, when you get tired of playing with yours, send it to me...
It wasw shot in and around the bays of Cape Town. I actually know the boulders that the band were playing on. In the background you can see 12 peaks - they're called the 12 apostles!
I'd like to know how they suspended the camera to get such a stable shot. I tried shooting with a hand-held XL1 out of a Coast Guard helicopter a while ago and got the bumpiest-looking footage I ever shot.
Steadicams don't really work in this kind of situation since a lot of the problem is straight up and down bumps.
No the apostle that fell is off the south coast of Australia. Pretty impressed by the footage and the public liability risks in shooting on roads and public spaces. The pilot is greatly skilled. Smoothness is aided by high rotor speed and the intertia of the camera rig. Quite a load for a small airframe -- a lot of power being output by that turbine.
I saw a crap band open for Ozzy Osbourne a few months back. The bass player was missing his head. I wonder if he was the same bass player in that video when the chopper zoomed in real close?
