Somewhat OT

I thought maybe the helpful, genius people here could be of some help with this problem.

I was capturing video with my Logitech webcam, through quickcam software ( yes, terrible software, vegas has problems capturing from the webcam ), and "surprisingly" the software freezes up, and I have to close out. However, I still have the temp file it made in my temp folder ( qc2.avi ) is the exact file, however it isnt viewable. Is there ANY WAY to view this? The video has to be in it somewhere, it's 200+MB. I've tried DivFix, and AVI Preview, to try and view it, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help with the problem, but thought I'd mention that I discovered by accident that Vegas can capture fine through my Logitech.

It happened to be the only camera connected when I opened VidCap once, and there to my surprise was me, as seen by the Logitech. I pressed Capture Video and off it went. Don't know why yours doesn't do this ......

When I capture my webcam through Vegas, it seems to capture fine, but when I view the video, it's all twice the speed it should be.

Probably that's because the webcam is only good for 15 fps. That's partly because it's USB and also the quality of the camera. On some of them you can adjust the fps and image size.

Jeremy,
Twice the speed? Annoying but that's certainly nothing that Vegas can't handle! Just time stretch it back out. If it really is only a 15fps camera, then you shouldn't be losing any quality(not that webcams generally are the kind of sources that you use when concerned about quality).

Also, have you tried changing the project settings? Perhaps if you set them to 15fps it will record correctly.

Another one: Have you tried viewing the media captured in Vegas in some other program to see if the file is actually corrupted? Maybe it's just a playback issue.

I have tried playing it in Vegas, along with WMP, DivFix, VirtualDub, VLC Media Player..etc, they all say "not a valid AVI", or something along those lines, so I'm wondering if theres anyway I can make it into a valid AVI, and watch that is in the file.
