Sonic Fire Pro Problems ?

Has anybody had any problems w/ SFP, specificly with importing an avi created in Vegas.
I have recently had a problem where I had a Vegas avi in a saved Sonic FP project. The crash seems to occur when I reopen the project and want to change the movie. soon as the choose" new movie "dialog box appears Sonic Fire Pro crashes.
Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this , or if someone with SFP could try this and see.
It has happened to me with two different avi's, and it seemed after it happened even if I try the "clear movie" option it crashes.
I have emailed SFP and a very helpful tech named Scott has been trying to help, but I'm wondering if it's something in my system or a true problem w/ SFP.
this happens if you load an .avi(no audio in the avi) , and place music on the SFP timeline.
(I was creating the music with the blocks not the pre assmbled song.)
Then save that project, close the program, then reopen, then choose to replace the movie.

If others have had this problem maybe we can get enough info to SFP to figure it out.

I believe that the normal way to use SFP with Vegas is to calculate the exact time, including the exact number of frames in length you need for your music, then you start SFP in another window. Don't try to import the video from Vegas into SFP, it will crash.

Generate the music in minutes, seconds, and frames per the length you calculated while in Vegas. Store it as a separate file.

Exit SFP. Go back into Vegas. Import the file into Vegas the same way you would any file (this is an audio only file (a .wav file, if my memory serves me correctly). add it on an AUDIO track. There will be no video to go with it. Line it up where you want it, and away you go.

Save early and often.

Thanks for the reply, wcoxe1
Thats one way ,
but the idea behind importing the movie into SPF is that I am not using the their computer generated scores, You can also write/build your own music using all of those "building blocks " that they use to create a more taylored score to the video. Kinda like Acid, but much more restricted. But you can build them quicky using blocks from any of the sound/soundtracks that are in your library.
The movie must be in the program so I can start and stop them both simultaniously, for timing.
I should have made that more clear, but thanks anyway.

As for "save early and often" thats what got me in trouble. : )

epib,
I have SFP and have had problems with it. However I haven't tried doing the more sophisticated trick of using the blocks.
But I've always had some audio included in the AVI file, maybe, just maybe that's the clue. Even if you don't have any audio in the Vegas project still try rendering with an empty rather than no audio track.

If that doesn't fix it let us know and I'll try to repo the problem here.
One thing we should be pressuring SFP to get working is being able to run SFP as a Vegas aware program. I think it used to work but became broken with V5 of Vegas.

Thanks Bob,
I'll give that a try maybe it needs to see some sort of audio stream.
I'll post later tonight with results.
