Sonic Foundry programs not seeing drives

AlistairLock wrote on 3/29/2003, 7:21 AM
Apologies for the cross forum posting but:

I have Sound Forge 6e, CD Architect 5, DVD Architect 1.0a and Vegas 4.

I also have an LG DVD Drive and a Sony DRU-500AX (internal R/WR).

Everything I have is fully up to date.

I also have Nero and DLA (the DVD re-writable software that came with the Sony drive)

Due to an incompatibility between Nero and DLA, which was causing the drives to lock up, I therefore uninstalled Nero. The result: none of the Sonic Foundry programmes could see either drive, either to read from, or to write to, despite uninstalling and re-installing all 3 (SF) programmes.

I then re-installed Nero, and, hey presto! The Sonic Foundry programmes can once again see both drives.

What on earth is going on?

Somebody samewhere is replacing a system file with it's own version that is stuffing 'normal' programs .

i have a simliar problem. update nero lastest version, the both dvd rom and dvd writers are gone. reinstall driver didnt help. i ended up reinstalling xp and it works again.
i have a funny feeling that must be something to do with the xp registry or nero.

I have CD Architect 4.0 and it will not recognize my CDRW drive,
which is a Phillips 800 Series. Any advise is welcomed.
Thanks

I have a similar problem hhen trying to extract from CD:

In vegas 4 (b115) and in CD Architech 5.0 the drive list content only my Yamaha CRW-F1 CD-RW but not my LG drive (CD-R). Note that they are both availables in the explorer window.

BUT... I get both in the extract drive list of Sound forge 6.0 (b219) !!!

I also use nero burning 5_5_10_28 whit the good(?) wnaspi32.dll version (2.0.1.59) that is available on the nero site to adress this problem.

How to do ?

Wrebbit

PS Using in windows xp pro operating system
