Sonicfire Pro 6 not showing up in VP15

Martin L wrote on 9/26/2017, 5:08 AM

I recently upgraded to VP15. Just started to work with it yesterday. So far so good! It is smooth and seems stable. I like the new LUT-filter which I already utilize.

Now it came to adding music to a video. I have Sonicfire Pro 6 installed and it worked fine in VP14 but it doesn't show up at all in VP15. Anyone knows why? Do I need to reinstall it?

Well, nothing there in my Vegas 15. But I don't have Vegas Movie Studio.

Yea, I installed it long ago and it has been my favourite music plugin in Vegas.

Try to reinstall it

Or does Sonicfire need an update to be compatible with VP15?

Martin L wrote on 9/26/2017, 9:05 AM

That's exactly the version I have, and have used for a year or so with VP14. On the image you enclosed it says it works with Vegas up to 14 but it doesn't say VP15. Could it be it's not compatible? Anyone else has it working with VP15?

Cornico, you're right. I didn't have it installed in the V15 folder. I asked SmartSound and got a quick and instructive reply as follows:

"Hi Martin,

The plugin is compatible with Vegas Pro 15, it just needs to be moved/copied into a new folder for this version.  Please open the following folder on your machine:

C:\ProgramData\VEGAS Pro\14.0\Script Menu

Inside the Script Menu folder you should have a "Add - Edit SmartSound Music.dll" file.  Go ahead and copy the entire "Script Menu" folder, then paste it into the same folder for Vegas 15:

C:\ProgramData\VEGAS Pro\15.0\

Once the Script Menu folder and the .dll file inside have been copied to the 15.0 folder, launch Vegas 15 and you should now see the "Add - Edit SmartSound Music" option in the Scripting menu.  I hope this helps, and if you have any questions or problems please let me know.

Best regards,
Frank"

So I did just that and now it works! Great!

Happy editing everybody!

Searching for something like this. I finally have it installed in the proper folder, start SFP6.0.8 as administrator, start VP15 (or 14) as administrator, but when I select SFP from Tools>Scripting, I get a message box with the length of the selection and "Waiting on Sonicfire Pro...".

Any suggestions?

@Reyfox

I believe this message will only disappear once you export the audio to the Vegas timeline. At least here it has always been like this.

@Former user Thank you so much for this tutorial! It explains what is to suppose to happen. I've been having trouble with SFP6.0.8. I've uninstalled, reinstalled it a few times and still problems. My problem is, I do not get the Send button but the Insert. I have to start SFP first before VP14 or 15 otherwise it won't even "see" SFP.

I am also getting a Magix Low Latency popup window too. Frank at Smartsound passed on the screenshot to the programmers. He's on vacation right now, so I will wait for him to come back.

Again, thanks for this tutorial!

@Former user again, thanks for you help in me understanding this. With Pinnacle, you do not have to go to SFP to change the length of the song if that's all you want to do. You can just extend it on the timeline and it will re-render to the new length. Maybe because Smartsound Quicktracks was available for Pinnacle and Premiere (I know for sure with Premiere 6) and over 10 years as a plugin with Pinnacle, the integration has always been there. It's a few extra steps for Vegas, but it's no big deal.

The same is to do in Vegas 16 pro!

Reyfox wrote on 1/6/2019, 1:12 PM

Updated to VP16..... copying the script from VP15 to VP16, I get the error message "Error: Could not run Sonicfire pro. Please make sure SFP is properly installed...."

The script works fine in VP15 and VP14.

Stumped....

Go to C:\ProgramData\VEGAS Pro\14.0 copy the Script Menu folder and paste in C:\ProgramData\VEGAS Pro\16.0

Works fine here in Vegas Pro 14 and Vegas Pro 16 Build 352
