Sony AVC Encoder - Problems with Bit Rates

Streamworks Audio wrote on 5/19/2010, 2:16 PM
Hey folks...

Anybody else getting this.... I select the Sony AVC Preset Blu Ray 1920,1080-60i 16Mbps preset.... this encodes with no problems. But if I am to try and up the bit rate to 20Mbps.... I get an error. Obvioulsy the max bit rate for this preset is 16Mbps, but why do they bother listing 20Mbps? Or is it that is should do 20Mbps but there is a bug in the encoder?

Cheers!

I get it too, with a simple test project. A gradient background with 3 keyframes to make it move and a simple text.

Default Blu-ray at 16Mbps, no problem, change the bitrate to 20, and I get an error whose cause apparently could not be determined.

In my case it was 1920x1080, 50i.

I don't see why there should be a limit, especially one that low considering that the higher end consumer camcorders apparently will be (or already has) started with 24Mbps if I recall, and Blu-ray does support up to 50Mbps.

Same error here. Tried also with high profile.
