Sony HDD cam Audio import issues

I just recently bought a Sony DCR-SR82 HDD cam and when I download my files from the camera to my computer they have audio with them. However when I import the files into Vegas 8 there is no audio.

I tried contacting Sony, but it has been almost a week and still no answer.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?

First, make sure you are running the latest 8.0b version of VP8 - this fixes a few problems with audio in imported MPEG files.

Second, if the camcorder audio is surround-sound, you may need to have the project audio setting as '5.1 surround' instead of stereo - otherwise it has no compatible audio tracks to place the audio onto.....
