? Sony HDR-CX150 as interim camcorder, low/m light

Would a Sony HDR-CX150 be good enough as an interim camcorder? - special need of low/mid light situations (forum group footage in normal/low room lighting)

Got ahold of VMS9 a few months ago, really liked it - I was just about to get Pro-9, when I heard they added more tracks in the new VMS10, so I got that as an interim at least (maybe wait for Pro-10). I was considering getting something like the Sony DCR-VX2100, but then thought maybe I should move up to it (seeing if this is what I wanted to get into) - I like the idea of a small handheld for those inconspicuous times (not dragging around a larger pro camcorder). Surely you guys/gals with pro-camcorders have a smaller second choice.

Oh, what a quantum leap - from the CX150 to the VX2100 - but you can download a raw clip from the CX155 (sorry, could not find the CX150) here http://www.videoaktiv.de/Testvideos/Sony/Testvideo-Sony-HDR-CX-155-E.html and judge for yourself.

On the middle of the page, after the Video Download just right click and save the Sony CX155.MTS. Watch it and test it in your Vegas version.

For " those inconspicuous times" I use a Sony TX7 which draws very little attention from the public as it looks like an innocent tourist still camera - but it records 1920x1080 50 or 60i at 17 Mbps - and the quality is stunning.

I think you first need to decided if you want Standard Def or High Def. That is a *major* decision which will affect your other choices.

For SD (only, as there are some HD cameras that will also shoot SD) you only have one format ... MiniDV (ie. tape)

For HD you have multiple types of HD, and multiple ways to record it with your camcorder (tape, memory card, Hard Drive)

For your "low/mid light" question .. there are no hard and fast answers. What one person considers a "good" low light camcorder .. another says it isn't any good. (mostly, I think, because they have found a better one .. but that does not make the first "bad" only lower in the ratings than the second camera)
