I had daily crashing back in 2016 with my Sony movie studio suite , really didn't matter what I was doing in the program . Spent several hours pushing hundreds of buttons , changing this and that , nothing seemed to work . Long story short …… It was the windows 10 screen saver causing the crash . Here's why , when you set your screen saver to continually display different pictures as background , you are giving windows permission to go in and out of your folders . The problem is I guess , when making video with sony , it too must also go in and out of these folders . Kinda like a 4 way intersection all showing green lights . Never crashed again once the screen saver was set to pure black background .
Now here recently Dec 2018 , a second situation arose , drove me crazy and at first I pointed the finger at Sony . While attempting to record audio , a small screen would pop up saying " error , not enough space " , or whatever else it says . It also would not light up the red armed recording light . Figured clean out the files , put them on a separate hard drive , however , problem still there . I changed about every single setting known to Sony , even installed an updated Sony version 15 for 80 bucks , and still the same problem , it too wouldn't allow recording . By the way , that new program Sony Movie 15 wasn't near as good , So reloaded my original Suite 13 , gave it a another try and still same message , no way to record . I now had 15 hours in this and figured sleep on it . Next day , doubtful , but figured try the windows side of things and low and behold , it was . It was the Microphone privacy settings , some how mine had been turned off …… On your windows 10 screen bottom left , Click the settings flower / click privacy / click microphone / Allow apps to access your microphone ....... turn it on .
