Sony MTS file loads in Vegas 17 as video, but in Vegas 18 as audio

I must say the change in behavior between version 17 and 18 is surprising at least. Is there a reason for threating Sony MTS files as audio files?

I also use MTS files, not from Sony but Panasonic

Your filesize is very big through a very high bitrate of 741 MB/s, mine are 25 max for 50p.
But if this is a normal file I like to test it in my VPro 18; are you able to place a small file on a site as Dropbox where I can download it unharmed.

Here you will find the MTS file that loads as video in Vegas 17 and as audio in Vegas 18

Your file works fine for me in Vegas Pro 18 build 334, both video and audio.

If you right-click this file in the Vegas Pro Explorer and select "Properties", what's the name of the plug-in listed on the bottom of the video properties window?

StaryKaszub wrote on 9/24/2020, 3:48 PM

Plug-In
  Name: mcplug2.dll
  Folder: C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 18.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\mcplug2
  Format: MainConcept MPEG-1
  Version: Version 18.0 (Build 334)
Company: MAGIX Computer Products Intl. Co.

Marco. wrote on 9/24/2020, 3:53 PM

Interesting. Here it is "compoundplug.dll".

I have no glue why this happens on your system. What you could try to do is temporarely renaming the folder "mcplug2" in C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 18.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\. Maybe this then forces Vegas Pro to use the correct I/O-Plug-in.

@StaryKaszub  Thanks for the file from which the MediaInfo looks totally different for bitrate than in your OP.
Framerate stated in MediaInfo is 25 interlaced frames, while Vegas detects it as progresstive.
This one with me as @Marco. no problem on my desktop in VPro 17 b 334while decoder is also compound plug, look

@StaryKaszub
How exactly did you import these files into Vegas Pro?

StaryKaszub wrote on 9/24/2020, 4:33 PM

@Marco - drag&drop and import project media give the same result. I also remember that after drag&drop operation Vegas 18 informed about successful activation of Main Concept plug-in. Is there a way to change the plug-in handling project media import?

Marco. wrote on 9/24/2020, 4:45 PM

You could try changig the AVC Decoder setting in Options/Preferences/File I/O, though usually it is not recommened to change the default (legacy unselected).

The other way I can think is same approach to MP3 issue: reset VP18

Imports OK in V18 here except for Vegas thinking it's progressive which seems to be a common problem that I see quite frequently.

Note: when I imported I elected not to change project settings.

 C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\18.0

Started Vegas Pro 18 and my MTS files loaded properly.
