You will not be able to make a connection between the program and your Sony device, since you're going through a DV bridge (the Canopus). So you will not be able to control your device's playback with the program.

However, if you've got your Canopus plugged into your computer via FireWire, you should be able to manually turn on your Sony player and then record the video as it's played in your Vegas capture window.

Just go into Options/Preferences in the capture panel and uncheck every option that has to do with connecting to an external device or stopping capture on dropped frames. Otherwise, the program will sense that there's no DV camcorder connection and will not let you capture.

Hi Steve, let me first of all thank you for your reply.I wasn't too sure which boxes to clear so I cleared them all, and there still isn't any change, you did mean the cpture window, and not the preview. Kind regards Alan

Hello again Steve, sorry for the delayed reply, but I have had to tend to some family business and my own activities have had to take a back seat. So ,I still have not sorted the problem. What I did do is plug my Sony HD camera straight into the computer with a fire wire,my Sony software recognised it,but was anable to open it.So the canopus doesn't appear to be the problem as I am getting the same message with my camera, does that make any sense.Kind regards Alan

Try this hint from my book:

Go to the Capture window's Video menu and ensure that Microsoft DV Camera and DV are selected.

Sorry. If you've got all the preferences set correctly, I have no idea why your capture would not work.
