As I understand the EX1s files have to be rewrapped into MXF files using the cameras browsing software. This will mean footage shot at 1920x1080 will not be catered for? Will this issue be adressed and if so when?
Here in rip of Britain were being charged equivilent $9500 for the camera with orders not to let UK customers buy from America.
Funny If our businesses do it without permission our government call it protectionism if they do it its called free movement of markets.. Whatever way you look at it they collect. The sheriff of nottingham rides again in the UK.
Just to clarify on my film looks question. XDCAMS can use downloadable film looks using a memory stick I know the EX1 has some already on board but it would be nice to be able to use the latest downloadable ones. Not a neccessity just asking really.
Unfortunately, only one settings file per SxS card... So with 2 of them, 12 PPs to choose from (plus another 6 in-camera, but once owerwritted it's gone of course).
One look is still better than a kick up the backside! Perhaps Barry Green or DSE will write a book for this camera with information regarding creating film looks!
Well the camera has 6 possible picture profiles, I think that's the same as the V1 whereas the Z1 has more. On the EX1 you can save / load those PPs to / from the SxS card. You cannot as far as I know directly access a PP from the SxS cards. If you have one you want on there you'd have to load ALL the PPs from the file on the SxS card into the camera, overwritting all PPs in the camera.
From my experience very few people actually tweak any of these cameras let alone use multiple PPs. I guess Sony noticed this as well and figured 6 would be more than enough to keep people happy.
Speaking only for myself I'm not too certain about the desireability of cooking in extreme looks in camera, at least not without carefully evaluating the look. I've once managed to do this, looked fine on the day but when I looked at it back home it wasn't anything desirable at all and really couldn't be undone.
