sony registration

I've been happily using 8.0c since it came out. With no apparent cause, it started crashing.

I reinstalled, but the problem persisted. I tried installing the previous version, 8.0b, but when I tried to register, the "Server" refused. So I tried reinstalling the original 8.0c, and now the Serve won't register it.

Then came the real kick in the wazuza. I started looking fro tech support and found myself in a strange new world.

No humans, $30/shot phone support, email support ("Ask a Question") more labyrinthine than anything i ever encountered. Online forms that wipe out everything you entered if you miss something, a sign-up form that led me only to a big blue web page telling me there was some server error and that I had to call support to work it out . . . .

I've been at this for over an hour, and would be pulling my hair out if I had any.

Where is the customer-friendly, helpful and human company I've known for years?

How long has it been this way?

Contact customer service, not tech support, regarding your registration issues. They will be more than happy to help.

I think you're in the same world I was in. It WAS customer service I was in. The closest thing to a phone number is a fax no. Pages of "FAQs" that all direct you to the Page of Hell. Not even a suggestion that a human is available.

An "Ask a question" form that would drive a stoic nuts.

Try it. this is not the Sony Creative we've known.

Please, if you find something I'm missing, tell me.

I just tried filling out the Question form and submitted it.

I get a page from "Right Now Technologies hosting" saying:

# # #
Internal Server Error:
Server id: 3->19
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the site's support team and inform them of the time of the error and what operation
you were performing when the error occurred.

Thank you for your patience.

Right.

And I'm still dead in the water.

Sorry I didn't make sense. If you saw paid support options you were in Technical Support.
By clicking the Contact Customer Service link you get this, which gives you phone, fax, email, and other contacts links:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/support/contactus.asp

There is also a Registration Support link. You may be asked to create a support account which is different than your forum account:

http://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=1YLn*Ddk&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD03MzksNzM5JnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj1_YW55fiZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x

In addition to the standard online registration form, there is also this faq link that helps with specific issues:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/reg/faq

Hope this helps. Oh, and good luck.

Thank you for those links. Unfortunately, they are all the ones I've been banging on all morning, only to get that "Server was unable to complete . . " page.

I think I may just download 10, use if for as long as I can, and then decide what to do from there.

I suppose I had to upgrade sometime.

...or you can try calling the free 800 number & see what they say...

I've always used this number 608-203-7620 when i've had registration problems. I've usually gotten a real live human on the line within a couple minutes and had the problems solved in a flash. Of course, it will be long distance unless you've got a nationwide/international calling plan. It's also only staffed during regular business hours.

widetrack,

is your net playing properly?

i just tried all the links and they're fine.

have you tried a variety of other known sites and see if you have problems?

try accessing them with another pc, or browser....

Good idea. So far 10 has been flawless for me .. Well worth the upgrade price while the upgrade is cheap .. (until Nov 30th) .. don't let that price expire! .. No harm to download and see for yourself.

Sometimes that server issue with registration clears by itself .. I remember having it hit me once and then the next day it was fine .. but sometimes they have to "reset" your license .. E-mail form to customer service looks the same to me as it was .. but lucky for me have not needed it lately. Customer service e-mail form
