Sony's new video PC comes with...Premiere?

Well said, Douglas.

I'm not in any way insinuating that Premiere is better than Vegas, just that it's more established, rightly or wrongly. Hence, the reason for my reply to the original post. I mean, if Sony itself preloads Premiere on their desktops, that speaks volumes.

It doesn't speak volumes to me, but it likely speaks volumes to those that don't know why it is this way.
Definitely, it says that Sony Electronics has made some weak/ill thought decisions. And it's not just Sony Electronics; There are some very highly placed people in the Broadcast division that are ignorant to Vegas as well. It's embarassing to have to apologize for him from time to time. You shoulda been there when this guy was telling someone at a press conference that "nothing could currently edit the 24p of the V1U." After I corrected him (nicely of course), he challenged me again. So, I pulled out the pre-production V1U, and showed him.
If you'll be at NAB, you'll see the very 24p footage I showed him, in 24p, displaying on a Premiere monitor, at that press conference 9 months ago. He apologized, but I'm sure he still feels Vegas isn't as good as Avid.

As I said earlier - Sony Electronics will bundle whatever it wants to sell more Sony Computers.

The failure, if there is any, is in Sony Creative Software Marketing.

Smart marketing and Sony is an oxymoron.
