The article recommends the GL2!

Any other info is greatly appreciated! :)

Don't have info, I'm sorry. But I would like to know for sure if any of the two cameras can do animation recording (one or very few frames at the time).

Professional review by Steven Trent Smith on the GL2

My experience has been with a prosumer Canon Optura Pi and a Sony TRV50 (my current camera). Although I like the Sony I still can't help feel my Optura recorded more pleasing video and was better in low-light. One negative thing I've read about the TRV950 is that low-light is not that great, but that may just be in comparison with the VX2000 or PD150. To balance that I've also read that color saturation and white balance in normal light with the TRV950 is excellant. In auto mode it adjusts to varying light conditions and white balance extremely well.

Efiebke - As I said in other post, I'm very happy with it. It does create IMHO broasdcast quality video. - What more can I say. Low light is an issue and then again I've done some filming in a Pub/Bar music venue, using just the house lights - NOT spots or anything. The detail is crisp and a knockout. Putting it up on a TV screen will blow you away - but hey that's me coming from a outdated 10 year old analogue technology. The DVinfo.net "Son of Watchdog GL2" is bursting with techy and user comments.

I'm going with the GL2! If all goes well, it looks like I'll have the $$$ by the end of the month! The DVinfo.net web site was extremely helpful! I plan on spending much time in there as I learn the vide-editing end of things. It will be a welcomed learning curve.

With regards to the VV3 program. . . most comments were very favorible with the actual program! The short time I've spent with the program has been fruitful. I'm doing a simple "Holiday Christmas " video with a bunch of stills and short video utilizing this program. It will be the first time I've created ANY DV-based film project. It is an outlet I've longed to persue for many, many years. My first college degree was a Bachelor's of Music in Film Composition from Berklee. That was 20 year ago!!! 20 years later I'm now looking at not only doing film/video compositions for my own little entertainment business, but also having a hand in the actual video editing too! Looks like that "BM" degree is finally paying off. . . :)

Thanks for the thougtful responses. They're very much appreciated.

Cheers! :)

From what I see over here, the Canon XM2/GL2 costs 33 percent more than the Sony TDV950. I can't buy a camera just yet, but I've informed Santa Claus that I'd go for the Sony. I could get a couple of good mikes for the difference.
