sony spti services

I have a service on my computer called "Sony SPTI Service"
it runs from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\AVLib\Sptisrv.exe
Can any one tell me what this is.
It is set to run "Manual"
is it something for vegas that should be running?????

Are you running a Sony computer?

I did a search and there are 240 or so pages of people wanting help to kill spyware and it comes up in their "hijack this" log. So lots of people have the files at least.

I can't tell you what the file is but SPTI should stand for "serial protocol transport interface." That's like a streamlined zero-overhead network system for specialized plug-in cards and high-end cameras and decks. That's the latest thing -- very cool. Do a search here and on Google.

Actually it stands for Sony Pictures Television International also, but what it relates to I haven't found.
