Sony TRV-30E

Goal: To output video from VV to VCR

I'd like to connect the PC with my DV Cam via Firewire. I'd then like to connect my 3xRCA lead from the camera to the VCR.

I can do the reverse, capture from the VCR, thru the DV Cam to the PC, but can't see a way of doing it in reverse.

Any suggestions?

PS. My Asus V8200 Deluxe video card has S-Video & composite out, but the result on the VCR contains a small amount of interference made up of around 10 lines in the middle of the screen running horizontally. <G> Why can't life be easier?

are you capturing and outputting DV to/from Vegas with a 1394 card?

I don't think it will go that direction. (I have TRV-30 too) I think the only way is to print to tape, then play from cam to VCR.

Yes. The PC & Cam are connected via the mobo's onboard 1394 port.

What a shame it doesn't go in the reverse direction. Thanks.

I've got the same camcorder. It works both ways. Use the print to tape option and make sure you select the manual starting option. (I'm not sure, but maybe you have to remove the tape out of the cam.)
The video will play on the display and if you attach the cam to the TV/VCR it will play there, too.

I have the same camera and can go both ways.
In addition to the other advice, check this.
Go in your camera menu and under the second icon (V), check A/V - D/V out. It should be set to the off position. Turn your camera to VTR?VCR mode. Remove your tape from the camera, as mentioned. You should have no problem.

I have the TRV20 a lower model and I can input & output Analogue via the camera.
I suggest you check the manual and the menus in the Cameras as I had to change a menu to get the camera to work the other way. So I can capture via FireWire in to my laptop edit and then output via Firewire through the camera and to a VCR.
