Not a little ironic: Please update Your Systems Specification Form so we can reply to "Please Update your Systems Specs".

Was I the only one that spotted this?

Beggars the question, just where and how in the loop does our Tech Support get to read, or further inform our hard working WebMaster? Maybe this is the continuing virtuous circle/cycle of adding value thru' continuous improvement? We can only hope.

And yes, thanks for updating your "Please Update your System Specs form" form!

Already 2010 is starting to feel real good. Maybe Vegas10 in 2010? - Kinda got some synchronicity about it?

Whadyah fink?

Not just the amount, but about RAM speed too?

How about how many Drives and configurations too?

If Vegas is having to rely on more and more faster, beefier and sustainable high spec-ed bits of hardware for things ... oooo . .I don;t know . . . for EDITING for fuller fps, then these "details" are starting to gain more and more importance.

There was a time when I boasted that Vegas could deal with most formats - off-the-bat. As these formats are becoming more and more trixie and it would appear to need more powerful hardware the boast is starting to wear a tad thin? Or have I got it wrong? Or do I need the expertise of an IT pro to optimise my setup for the different formats present? Discuss . . .

So, my point again is do SONY - SCS - need to know MORE to assist us in a more intelligent way? Or should I say, in an even more intelligent way?

Maybe the The Devil in the detail is truer now than it was previously. Y'know, when there was a DV standard? Remember those days? Format wars still lives on . . . . the best thing for MS, INTEL, SONY . . . . no change there then!

hey grazie, don't you think it would be a better idea that they bring out 9d and sort the existing problems before expecting us to divvy up for another version?

but i do agree, 2010's begining to look sort of good....

You're making the leap of faith or assumption that VP9d wouldn't be VP10?

Curious huh?

So you're saying V9 was the beta release of V10 :)

Bob.

evening bob....

and that v10 is a beta of v11?

Actually, what DOES determine a VERSION Upgrade?

System specs are the less of this forum's problems. To me this is the most prehistoric forum I've ever seen on the web, it doesn't even seem like a forum from the mid 90s. If you want to use any basic formatting tools you have to use those annoying bracket things, while on every other forum that I go to, you just select the text and press a button for either italic, underline or bold.

And most importantly, this forum doesn't offer subscriptions to threads with instant, daily or weekly e-mail notification like all the rest. So whenever you post something and need a reply, you have to keep coming to the forum over and over to see if there were any replies. It's just pathetic.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it "pathetic" but it certainly is antiquated. I brought this up when I first joined here a few years ago and was given some database reason. With the advances in forum and networking software, it does seem a way-too-early-90's BBS board to have a major company like Sony not be able to install something more 21st century (yup, it's 2010 already :)

But communication is still possible, so that's most important. Just not as user-friendly.
And I cheat, so to speak:

-- I use Firefox with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/128BBCode[/link]'s HTMLExtra add-on at this forum to insert text formatting with a right-click. Though I still have to resort to noodle with copy/paste in regards to links, images and vid embeds using an offline word program or Thunderbird. Tedious...

well, you can manually type in each field AND you can add comments. Why can't those be done in the respective fields?

re: forum software

other forum software can't handle this many message/topics, they have issues. Besides, it works, it works GOOD, don't need fancy features. So you have to remember some stupid little code. Have to hit "bookmark". Woop-e-doo. it ain't broke, don't fix it! That happened when people complained abour Vegas's looks & 64-bit, not the UI seems to have taken precedence to the app & there's more issues then before people got what they said was needed.

Yes, dear heart, but then it would mean those poor lil engineering souls would have to mess about with disentangling it all. And you know just how hurty-wurty their tiny-incy-whincy little headys will become if they have to actually read and deconstruct what I enter? No, there is nothing an engineer likes better than having ALL the information set out in neat "piles" so they can explore the innards of an issue.

Apart from that, it would be just Soooooo easy for the Webmaster to run-off a db report and show the poor things what is percolating to the top of the pile. Or maybe that wouldn't be a good idea after all?

And yes, I do know how to ADD extra info. Having fields would allow for better report delivery.

So nice to talk - ?

But now I must snuggles-up with my warm milky-wilky . . ahhh...
