Don't worry, I have a 2 year old VAIO laptop with a Pentium 3, 1.5GHz, 512 MB memory and 30 GB HD. Works great in the field. Have a little bigger workhorse for home.
MisterPat...
I just yesterday, bought a V505 for a little more than that, and it's a 2.6 Celeron. You'll be very, very happy. I'm now on my 14th VAIO in 5 years. I am currently using 3, hoping to narrow it down to 2. 1 big one for training/touring, and my 505 for writing and short trips. (weighs 4 lbs w/4 hour battery. 12" screen)
BIG difference with the Celeron processor though. I still don't like them anywhere near as much as a standard P4.
When you get as old & wise as I am, you may finally realize, as I have, that you aren't nearly as wise and infallible in the decision-making process as you once were.
Actually, the unit has been shipped (same day as ordered) and I have the UPS tracking # already. So, looking good.
Hi Mister Pat, I recently purchased a Sony Viao RZ36G, which I've been
using since mid December, 3.06ghz, 1gig of 3200-DDR ram,, 160g HD,
128mg video card, seperate DVD rom & DVD burner, and more.
I went through that same phase of remorse, but this machine is really nice.
Whisper quiet, really fast renders, I really can't find anything that I don't
like about this machine.
