sony vegas 8.0 want open it freeze

i can click the Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro short cut icon and it starts up as normal but then freezes when it "initializes audio engine" it does not display an error message or anything just stops working and not responding, i worked before for about 3 months then randomly one day just stopped when I didnt download anything to interfer with it on the day that it stopped. Pleae help

Do you have at least 20-30 gigabytes of free, clean, freshly defragmented space on your C drive?

If the program suddenly stops opening after working for months, it's often because there's so little space or so much fragmentation that it chokes the program.

There are other reasons: Conflicting software, corrupted files. But this is often the cause on laptops and computers more than a couple of years old.

Please fill out your system specs in your user profile.

It is unlikely that not having 20-30 gb of free, un fragmented disk space is causing this problem.


Try holding down CRL+SHIFT when you start Vegas. This will reset the internal preferences of Vegas.

But just for grins, let us know how much free, defragmented space you do have on your C drive. Just so we've got all the clues to solve this mystery.
