Hi

I have Movie Studio 6.0b but I wanted to update movie studio to 6.0d but when I
install it I need to write down my serial but my serial does not work. It says that the serial must start with JB and not with JD which my serial starts with.what's going on here? I have bought this program legally but can't I even get a update for my program without having to pay for that???

On my account vegas 6 full version starts with jb
and v6 movie studio platinum starts with je

best to go to top of forum to my account/my software/then update from there as
you may be upgrading the incorrect version

my platinum movie studio 6 only went to 6.0b

hope this helps

edit
I just checked and movie studio 6.0b is the newest version the d was for the full vegas.

Your newly legally bought VMS came with a card in it, just use that serial number in that card.

Perhaps I am just too tired - but where on the updates list is v6d?

I can see the Vegas update 6d, which is for the FULL version of Vegas,

I can see the Vegas Movie Studio Update 6b

I can't see the VMS update to 6d?

The update for the full version will not update the VMS version.

Am I missing something here?

JohnM,

Unfortunately Kenny is right. There is no 6d update to Movie Studio, only to the full version. 6b is the last update to version 6 of Movie Studio, it looks like.

Ian.

I feel kinda left out in the cold. I get no updates for free for a software I paid money for. And the only way to get any kind of updates is to pay for a newer software. That is not fair at all. I am not made of money since I don't have a steady job. In this case I don't blame pirate users who download software for free. As I said earlier I paid money for my software so my conscience is good. I really like Sony Vegas Movie Studio for it's stability. The stabilty of the software is rock solid but it lacks the support of many formats and it's not much effects in the package. I have tried many different videoediting software and I must say even though it lacks support of many formats and there is only a small amount of effects in the software the Sony Vegas Movie Studio is still my favorite. The worst videoediting software I have tried is Pinnacle Studio 9-11. It's not stabile at all,it crashes often,it's slow..But the plus side of Pinnacle Studio is all the effects you get in the package.

John, no one is giving MAJOR updates of their software for free. Only the minor fixing updates are free, and that would be 6.0b for you. If you want to move to 8.0a you simply buy the upgrade version, which is not full price (it's about half the price of the full price). Major updates always cost money. Be it Windows, Mac OS X, Nero, or Pinnacle.

I understand what you are saying Eugenia..

I was kinda thinking of 8.0a but even that one has not import/export for mpeg-4. As far as I can see. Only way to get import/export for mpeg-4 is to buy platinum edition and that is too expensive for me.

Doesn't the Movie Studio export in "Sony AVC" for the Sony PSP? That's mpeg4 you see.

While I understand that the Platinum version might be expensive for you, it is not an expensive package overall. Vegas Platinum is the most powerful NLE in the *consumer* market, and so $130 is a fair price. And you might be able to upgrade for cheaper anyway.

You can upgrade to Platinum for $59.95 USD. Read about it here. For awhile you could get it for an introductory price of $45 (shipped media), but I think that offer has expired (someone please correct me if I' wrong about the expiration).

Actually, for $59.95 you get disks and paper; if download is good enough for you then it costs $49.95.
