This is an excellent introduction to what Vegas 12 has to offer - and fully explains how to apply the new gizmos. I upgraded to V12 only yesterday and am so glad now that I can see just how many benefits there will be.

Interesting, it does point out the new features but the guy is no "frickin" English major and he doesn't seem to understand some of the editing concepts. (i.e. "I don't know why you would want to do this...")
Richard Jones wrote on 10/8/2012, 8:07 AM
Yes, John, you are right about the use he makes of English and his editing uncertainties but this is only an introduction to the product which I suspect many people will have found useful (I know I did),

He claims that CUDA rendering has slight artifacts compared to CPU. Do others get that also?
paul_w wrote on 10/8/2012, 8:45 AM
Yes, i have noticed this (re - 32:10). And its not just in v12. Someone got the GPU calculations wrong. Glad its not just me seeing it.

Paul.

Yeah, I've noticed the artifacts too.

Style aside, I thought it was a good overview of the new features. Thumbs up .

Great tutorial. Now I know how the "Color Match" feature works.

I submitted a request for a feature when I was still using V10 which I thought would be useful but hasn't be included.... yet.

I would like a visible indication reflecting JPG or media files already used on the timeline. I know you can click here & there but that takes toooo long. Just a simple color highlight or check mark on the thumb nail in the project media window showing "used" or "unused"

And I'm quite sure those kids are wondering whether they'll be old and crusty too when they turn our age ;)

I thought they did quite well. I know I couldn't produce at that level of confidence when I was their age.

Must be real difficult being a teacher: Critical-Encouragement

I do hope they come back here. A little abrasion tends to smooth down "crusty" stonework into a newer smoother shape. I know I need it!

Best regards

I totally enjoyed their v12 tutorial on youtube.
It's called having a personality? Something most computer geeks are in dire need of. Very cool.

cool.... about 20X too often. could do with a rehearsal, certainly a dictionary, but otherwise very good for a youth market.

Leslie I do agree.

I'll tell you what, they really inspired me to get busy with that LayerDimensionality Plug . . . . Been experimenting since 2:00am this morning . . . I'll post the outcome soon.

Toodles

grazie, saw your recent posting re dimensionality (?) - oh what a joy, the possibilities are really cool man, you know what i mean ;-)

i did use bump maps and stuff earlier on, but really, given the budget on some of my stuff there wasn't much incentive to really get into that area of experimentation, etc., now with layer dimen. the fun / cost ratio is certainly on the fun side.

look forward to seeing what you cook up....

Thanks for that DJMonopoli. I watched both your V11 and V12 videos. I enjoyed both and learned plenty of stuff too. The more videos like this that are positive about the product and raise awareness about it, the better.

Incredible video, the fact that these kids did this entire 37 minutes vid, that it looks as good/sounds as good as it does, and has as much rich content as it does should be applauded. I'll never understand why some people feel the need to throw in their little digs and critiques on other peoples work, it really is rather petty.

DJ and Sabrina are "Terabrite" on YouTube and have a decent following -- 72,000 subscribers, 9 million total video views. (Okay, Nick's got them beat on total video views...)

I imagine Sony was somehow behind the tutorial, and set them up with the giveaway packages. But I think they did a good job with the tutorial, and the exposure and demographic are a win for Vegas. They certainly keep things lively and engaging.

Ray, I agree with all you said.
I appreciate the time and effort that was put into making this video. It's well organized and provides a great overview of the new features in Vegas Pro 12.
I learned a lot and hope they make more videos showing additonal features that are a part of Vegas Pro 12.

Well I've watched this a couple of more times because it had several things I didn't know. I also watched it with my son (who is 12 and a Vegas lover as well). The style is growing on me. I even "suscribed".
