Sony Vegas PRO 14 with .R3D files: what's your workflow?

I would like to know what is your workflow with .r3d files, i know Vegas can get more info about the RED camera files but is not enough compare with RED Cine X.Do you import all your clips into Red Cine X, trim, fix something about lights, curves, HDRx, and then you export the trim .r3d file for vegas? Then, in Vegas you work with proxy? Can manage 5k resolution?

I am not one of the experienced people here, but here goes FWIW.

Vegas 14 can work with 5k r3d on my laptop, Skylake i7 16GB RAM SSD OS drive, 1TB for R3d files. I just drop the files onto the timeline, I do not import from RedCine-X.I leave the preview window setting in Vegas on default. No need for proxies. To adjust exposure I select the file in Project media right click and adjust its properties. I generally add a slight S curve in Vegas. Red files are not sharpened so I add a little Vegas sharpen, the default 0.5 is too much, I use 0.15.

if you do subsequently perform adjustments on the file in red cine X, this creates a .rmd file adjacent to the R3d. Vegas will read that .rmd file and those adjustments will be reflected on the picture. Jim Jannard, president of Red used to recommend adding a little "Alchemy" in RedCine-X (right panel, scroll down).

Vegas 15 does support newer Red color science, however I have not tested this re stability etc.

Hope this info helps
