Sony Vegas Pro 9 importing CDA track

I am having trouble importing a CDA track. SCP9 extracts it to a .wav file then gives the error :

An error occurred while opening one or more files - the file is an unsupported format.

I did notice that tools->Audio had all the audio options greyed. I thought that was because I had not got an audio editor. I have since got sound forge 9 and installed it, went to preferences-> audio and set the path to Forge90.exe as my preferred audio editor.

The menu options on audio are still grey and the CDA/wav file was still not recognized. Can any one help me?

Does the file play OK otherwise on the CD? Corrupt file maybe.
Where did the CD come from? Copy protection?

To determine if the source CD is unreadable or something is wrong with Vegas Pro 9 use another application to extract the audio.

Set you Rip options in Windows Media Player to .wav and rip the track in Windows Media Player.

If the source CD is really questionable you might consider a program like Exact Audio Copy or dBpoweramp. These programs also use hardware error detection which may yield a better result.

I generated a .wav file using dBpoweramp Music Converter. Vegas pro 9 still would not import it.

In that case, do a reinstall of Pro 9 and see if that clears things up.

Yep. A re installation seems to have worked. And its great that I managed to download my registored software from the sony site. I can't locate my disc after I decorated my room. Thanks for your help.

No idea what got corrupted but I'm glad to hear that solved your problem. Issues like yours quite often require a reinstall as reading a WAV file or importing an audio CD are very basic operations to Vegas.
FYI, I never bother ordering a CD from Sony anymore as it's always available on their site, even very old products.
