Sony Video Capture 6.0

I have been capturing 8mm video onto a windows xp dual athlon core machine successfully for over 70 tapes so far, coming in thru a canopus 110 unit. Oodles of hard drive space left, 2GB ram, etc.
all other aspects of the vegas program seem to be working just fine. The problem:

I hooked up a sony beta machine to the canopus and began to capture an old beta cassette. it worked for about 1 minute, then the preview screen went to solid blue. I tried a few more times to capture after powering down, rebooting, rechecking connections, reconnecting to device, etc.....

Since then, I have hooked up the original 8mm deck that I have been using, a VHS deck that I've successfully used in the past and I am unable to capture anything. The preview screen stays solid blue and does not even show the "help" link in the window that normally comes up when I first open the capture program.

If I choose the Capture tab, it does begin to capture, but the results are a solid blue screen only, no video or audio.

I've powered down, rebooted, tripled checked my connections, pressed the reconnect to device ad nauseum, nothing seems to work. I cannot find answers thru the knowlege base or references to this type of problem.

Any suggestions, is there a way to reload only the sony capture software? This is the only program I have loaded to do video capture with.

the capture app is in "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\vidcap60.exe". Replace vegas 8 with your version of vegas.

but it sounds like the canopus is messing up. Some times my ADS Pyro switches from analog capture to digital. That has the same results.

I don't understand your first direction "replace with my version,,,,", do you mean to uninstall and reinstall vegas?

I have had the canopus switch over to digital from analog, unfortunately, when I saw that and switched back to analog, the problem didn't go away, but thanks for the suggestion.

I await your answer to part 1

He just means replace the "Vegas Pro 8.0" text in the "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\vidcap60.exe" link.
