Sony We Need a Fix for DVDA Errors! (problem fixed by user)

Seems to me there are just too many people with error messages here and in other forums. After having spent an hour on the phone the other day with a Sony tech and still coming to no solution and having purchased Nero 6 Ultimate and not being able to burn with that either my decision to go Sony is proving to be a mistake because as much as I edit, I can only get projects to burn just past the 2 gig marker and then the burn fails? This essentially has put me out of business! I feel I paid too much for this to happen and this should be a priority of Sony to fix this bug with their software!

WTF are you talking about? If you can't burn with nero 6 ultimate either, don't you think you should be looking elsewhere for the problem? And your only other post to this ng has absolutely no useful content either.

I cannot burn DVDA rendered and prepared files in Nero 6 ultimate. In DVDA when attempting to burn the DVDA .dar file it gets to just past the 2 gig mark and then gives me the dreaded:

'SFMMCX'-(17)
'atapi'-(0)
-'SONY DVD RW DW-U10A 1.1d'-(0)
Module sfmmcx.cpp Line 1679
A medium error occurred.
Recovery has failed.

error message. Up until last Friday morning I was able to burn on this computer with this same burner and only the occasional DVD burner tray hang up where I would have to reboot in order to get the eject/return button on the front of the DVD burner to return to it's in position. While I know that there are many who DVDA is working fine for I now think there are far too many that it is not working for. The only thing that changed with this computer is the fact that I added another SATA hard drive and added the Promise softeware to get my Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard to recognize the drive was there. when DVDA stopped working I un-installed the software for the Promise controller and still it does not work.

You're still talking about a hardware problem while burning in Nero 6 ultimate. This is a long long way from proving DVDA is at fault. Now I'm not some knee-jerk DVDA defender, but DO SOME BETTER SLEUTHING if you expect to be listened to.

E.G...

1) Burn something else in Nero and demonstrate it works fine.
2) Create a 2nd DVDA project and demonstrate it works fine or fails.
2a) Make that 2nd DVDA project less than 2 gig.
2b) Make that 2nd DVDA project greater than 2 gig.
3) Burn with a different brand and demonstrate it fails.

etc, etc, etc. Do you understand now why I'm the only person talking to you?

I wanted to come back to this forum and say that I have found the fix to my burning problems with DVDA 2.0b. It was a very simple fix, something that I probably would not have found had I not taken advice from a fellow videographer. My problem burning began when I installed the drivers for my Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard to run the onboard Promise controller because I had just purchased a new 250 gig HD and wanted to "load" this computer up with all the HD's it could handle. Basically looking back this is where my problems began. So this friend suggested that I try unplugging the new drive form the SATA_RAID (set up in MB bios as IDE) from the motherboard so I unplugged the power and SATA connections from this drive and rebooted. First thing i noticed is that the Promise info was not on the boot up screen and also that the comp booted faster. I then went right into DVDA 2.0b and burned a previouly rendered file of 4.7 gigs @ 4x and it burned and played flawlessly! I'm back in business! I'm sorry for my post having the tone that this was all Sony's fault but I was in a panic and was hoping to get help fast! Apparently this is an Asus problem. I'm posting this solution to appologize and to hopefully help those who are having similar problems! Peace!
