I am using a

Dell E1505 Media Center Laptop,
Memory is running a little low on laptop itself,
But I have a 500gb external hard drive

I am loading the video files directly from External HD,

frequently while in the middle of my work, it just freezes up...

Try working with the internal drive and see if it helps out. Someone else had a problem with external drives too.
