Sorting imported media files (pics)

If I have 100 pics in the "all Media" pool - how can I differentiate the pics I have already dropped into the timeline? Creating bins seems to just duplicate the pics not separate them. For example, I has hoping to label a bin "Already dropped" and dragging the photos i have used into that bin. That doesn't seem to work the way I would like it to.

1] Create Bin "Already Dropped"

2] Go to All Media and Sort using the "Use Count" column

3] Drag anything ABOVE 0 zero use into the Already Used Bin

DONE!

Or from 2] right click and use the "Search Media Bins" options

The method i usually use involves only the timeline. I'll drag all the pictures to track 2, in any order or no order at all. Then i'll choose them one by one in the order i want and drag them from track 2 up to track 1, sliding them over to butt up against the last picture chosen.

Start with the track heights small and zoomed out and you can easily work with several dozens of pictures visible all the time. I find this is a lot nicer than trying to use the little media bin or project media windows.
