Vista SP1 will be released on February 4th, 2008.

Microsoft will release SP1 in two "waves". Wave 0, which will be released on February 4 and will include five languages - English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. Wave 1, is scheduled for release a couple of weeks later and will support all 36 basic languages, including Chinese.

John, I understand you have to go thru some complicated un-install process if you have SP1 RC installed
Kennymusicman wrote on 2/1/2008, 2:42 PM
not that complicated. Basically,
control panel -> programs and features -> installed updates
look for "Service Pack for Microsoft Windows", and selct and click uninstall.

Wait an hour, then look in windows update. That's essentially it.

Thanks! That does not seem to complicated.

Will Windows XP SP3 still be faster than this final release?

This post is not interpreting the information correctly.

Vista SP1 is scheduled to reach RTM status on Feb. 4th (Release to Manufacturing). This does not mean it will be posted for download on that day, it will very likely not be. It does mean it will begin to be distributed to OEMS that week. I suspect it will be a bit before it appears on Windows Update. And also note a RTM decision meeting is what is scheduled for Monday, and sometimes it is not approved although that is rather unlikely.
